Scroll on photo below to begin Worship Psalms 94:12-14 - Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. Worship: The discipline of the Lord brings happiness to your soul. Praise him for his care in disciplining you. Can you thank him for specific times of discipline in your life? Remember Genesis 3:21-24 - The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. Remember: Adam and Eve's banishment from the garden was for their best. They were not "sent to their room." For the Father went with them on their discipline (Genesis 4:4). He never leaves us, even when we have broken his creation and broken his heart. Believe Matthew 16:21-25 - From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." Believe: Just earlier, Jesus had called Peter "the rock on which he will build the church." Now Jesus brings loving discipline into Peter's life at this moment. You can trust the truth and loving motives of Jesus. Surrender Hebrews 12:5-6 - And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” Surrender: Submit to the Father's discipline in your life. Can you perceive what he is doing? Thank him that he is treating you as his precious child.
