The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: &ldquo;You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><em><font size="4"><span><font color="#8D2424"><strong>Worship</strong>: Praise your mighty King and faithful High Priest. His name is Jesus. Honor him today!</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font color="#508D24" size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Remember</span><br>Genesis 14:17-20 - After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King&rsquo;s Valley).<br></font><br><span></span><font color="#508D24" size="4">Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, &ldquo;Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.&rdquo;</font><br><span></span><font color="#508D24" size="4">Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.<br></font><br><span></span><em><font size="4"><span><font color="#508D24"><strong>Remember</strong>: There is One who is different and higher than the greatest human authority. Abraham recognized this. Do you?</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font color="#24678D" size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Believe</span><br>John 8:54-56 - Jesus replied, &ldquo;If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><em><font size="4"><span><font color="#24678D"><strong>Believe</strong>: Do not tie your personal security to father, mother or any human authority. Jesus was, is and will be. He is the foundation to your life and your worship.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font color="#5040AE" size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Surrender</span><br>Hebrews 6:19-20 - We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.<br></font><br><span></span><em style="font-size: large;"><span><font color="#5040AE"><strong>Surrender</strong>: Grab onto hope in Jesus. You can count on him. Jesus as the faithful king and priest is not wishful thinking. He is your rock solid hope.<br><br></font></span></em><font color="#2A2A2A" style=""><strong style=""><u style=""><font size="4">MORE INFORMATION on MELCHIZEDEK<br></font><br></u><font size="4">Melchizedek was the king of Salem&nbsp;</font></strong><font size="4">(Jerusalem) who suddenly appeared&nbsp;to Abraham after he rescued Sodom, Gomorrah and family from the enemy kings. (Genesis 14:17-2)</font><br><br></font><font color="#2A2A2A"><font size="4"><strong style="">Some debate&nbsp;</strong>whether Melchizedek was an angel, a real king, or Jesus Himself. From the weight of Scripture, it seems most likely that he was a real king that lived at Abraham's time. (Hebrews 7:1-10)<br><br><strong style="">What we do know...&nbsp;</strong>Melchizedek's family line was not recognizable to the author of Genesis. His day of birth and death was also not known. In this way, he resembled the One who would come in the order of Melchizedek - Jesus Christ. His name means "king of righteousness" and "king of peace".<br><br><strong style="">Melchizedek's purpose</strong>&nbsp;in the Bible was to point the way to Jesus as our permanent priest who always lives to intercede for us. (Hebrews 7:24-25)<br><br><strong style="">Melchizedek is a prefiguration of Jesus Christ.&nbsp;</strong>His life points the way to Jesus, reminding us that the Father's plan of salvation through Jesus was in place throughout all of history (first glimpse of this in Genesis 3:15). Indeed, Melchizedek reminds us that the whole of Scripture (including the Old Testament) points to Jesus. He is the central figure in the Bible. Thank him for his strength and mercy.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font color="#508D24" size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Remember</span><br>Genesis 14:11-16 - The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food; then they went away. They also carried off Abram&rsquo;s nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom.<br></font><br><span></span><font color="#508D24" size="4">One who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the great trees of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were allied with Abram.<br></font><br><span></span><font color="#508D24" size="4">When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people.<br></font><br><span></span><em><span><font color="#508D24" size="4">Remember: Notice the mercy of God on Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah. He used the unity of Abram's family (318 trained relatives) to rescue and restore the people of these cities.</font></span></em><br><span></span><font color="#5040AE" size="4"><span style="font-weight: bold; word-spacing: 0.01em; background-color: transparent;">Believe</span><br>Luke 19:9-10 - Jesus said to him [Zacchaeus], &ldquo;Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><em><font size="4"><span><font color="#5040AE">Believe: Jesus came to rescue and restore all of us who are lost. He is still rescuing the sons of Abraham.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font color="#AE40A5" size="4"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Surrender</span><br>2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.<br><br><em style="">Surrender: Yield to God&rsquo;s patience in your life. Don&rsquo;t test him or run from him. My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young&ndash; a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.</font><br><br><font size="4"><em><span><strong>Worship</strong>: God doesn&rsquo;t want &ldquo;once-a-week" worship. He wants us to dwell with him. Speak out your longing to live in God's presence (even before you "feel" the longing).</span></em></font></font><br><br><font color="#508D24"><font size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Remember</span><br>Genesis 13:10-13, 18 - Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord&hellip;</font><br><br><font size="4">(v. 18) So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the Lord.</font><br><br><em><font size="4"><span><strong>Remember</strong>: You have a choice to live near sin or stay far away. The choice to live around sin and rebellious people will have a devastating effect on your future and family.</span></font></em></font><br><br><font color="#5040AE"><font size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Believe</span><br>John 14:23-24 - Jesus replied, &ldquo;If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.</font><br><br><em><font size="4"><span><strong>Believe</strong>: Obedience to Jesus attracts the Trinity to your home. They intend to move in. Will you let Father, Son and Holy Spirit live in your home, giving them access to every room?</span></font></em></font><br><br><font size="4" color="#AE40A5"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Surrender</span><br>Ephesians 5:8-13 - For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible.<br><br><em style=""><strong style="">Surrender</strong>: Do you condone or "wink at" any fruitless deeds of darkness? God says to expose them (be firm and clear about wickedness). Go one step further. We may forget, but he never forgets.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#508D24"><span style="font-weight:bold">Remember</span><br>Genesis 12:14-20 - When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that she was a very beautiful woman. And when Pharaoh&rsquo;s officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace. He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels.<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#508D24">But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram&rsquo;s wife Sarai. So Pharaoh summoned Abram. &ldquo;What have you done to me?&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Why didn&rsquo;t you tell me she was your wife? Why did you say, &lsquo;She is my sister,&rsquo; so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!&rdquo; Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4"><em><span><font color="#508D24"><strong>Remember</strong>: The promise of God (all nations being blessed through the line of Abram and Sarai) was under attack. Even Abram took part in potentially sabotaging the promise. God keeps his promise. God protects his promise (even when we go astray). Ask yourself, "Am I hindering God&rsquo;s promise to me or my family in any way?"</font></span></em><br></font><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#5040AE"><span style="font-weight:bold">Believe</span><br>Matthew 5:17-18 - Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4"><em><span><font color="#5040AE"><strong>Believe</strong>: God kept his promise to Abram. He sent his Son, Jesus, to fulfill the promise. All nations of the earth are blessed through Jesus.</font></span></em><br></font><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#AE40A5"><span style="font-weight:bold">Surrender</span><br>Hebrews 10:22-23 - Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.<br></font><br><span></span><em><span><font size="4" color="#AE40A5"><strong>Surrender</strong>: God&rsquo;s faithfulness should move us to respond. We are called to draw near and hold onto the hope of eternity with him. God kept his promise to Abram. He will certainly keep his promise to us. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. The Lord appeared to Abram and said, &ldquo;To your offspring I will give this land.&rdquo; So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#508D24">From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. Where are the altars in your life? Do you have any?</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#5040AE"><span style="font-weight:bold">Believe</span><br>Matthew 5:23-24 - Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.<br></font><br><span></span><em><font size="4"><span><font color="#5040AE">Believe: Jesus clarifies what appropriate worship at the altar should look like. He desires right relationships between people as much as the personal act of worship at the altar.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#AE40A5"><span style="font-weight:bold">Surrender</span><br>Acts 9:1-6 - Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord&rsquo;s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, &ldquo;Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#AE40A5">&ldquo;Who are you, Lord?&rdquo; Saul asked.<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4" color="#AE40A5">&ldquo;I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,&rdquo; he replied. &ldquo;Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><em><span><font size="4" color="#AE40A5">Surrender: Can you remember a significant time when God spoke to you or appeared to you? What happened? Remember and thank God today for this moment. There are always two parties in a covenant. Noah had to fully participate (obey - build the ark) in order to make the covenant fully effective. God always works with us.</span></em></font><br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">Believe</span><br>Matthew 24:37-42 - As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.<br>&ldquo;Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.<br><br><em style=""><font color="#24678D"><span><strong>Believe:</strong> Jesus is coming again. Don&rsquo;t be caught unaware, as the people were in Noah&rsquo;s day.</span></font></em><br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">Surrender</span><br>Hebrews 11:7 - By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.<br><br><em style=""><font color="#24678D" style=""><strong style="">Surrender:</strong> It is out of the fear of the Lord that we obey. Our obedience is counted as faith that is blessed. He notices all of our thoughts and motives. He is pained over our sin. Righteousness makes God glad.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Believe</span><br>John 12:37-40 - Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet:<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4">&ldquo;Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4">For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: &ldquo;He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn&ndash;and I would heal them.&rdquo;<br></font><br><span></span><em><font size="4"><span><font color="#A88D2E"><strong>Believe</strong>: Acknowledge Jesus and his miracles in your life, whether great or small. Refuse to walk in unbelief.</font></span><br></font></em><br><span></span><font size="4"><span style="font-weight:bold">Surrender</span><br>2 Peter 3:10-11 - But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.<br></font><br><span></span><font size="4">Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives.<br></font><br><span></span><em><span><font color="#A88D2E" size="4"><strong style="">Surrender</strong>: There should be an urgency to our holiness.
