1 Samuel 30:6 - David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.

THINK ABOUT IT
Friends, even good ones, eventually fail us. No one has limitless capacity to give love, strength and encouragement to another - no one except God.

When we are determined to find our source of affirmation in people, social media posts and skill recognition, we are left empty. It's like trying to squeeze water out of a rock. It just doesn't work. The strength that a person can provide is so limited compared to the unending source from God.

Finding our strength in God requires an intentional turning... a turning away from people and toward God in our focus and time. Trying to find our source of comfort and strength in people can be quite addictive. So it will take a persistent and conscious choice to turn from people to God. His opinion and manner with us does not change. He is the reliable source of strength.

PRAY
Dear Lord Jesus, I come back to You as my real source of strength. I give up my attempts at getting filled with people's love and affirmation. I want to spend time listening to Your words of truth and love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
