Your testimony has power. Your testimony in song has the power to be repeated and remembered for generations. Keep Reading…
PRAY Dear Lord Jesus, teach me Your ways through Your Word. I open my heart to receive your message to me today. In Jesus' name, Amen. READ Exodus 15:1 - Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea. REFLECT Have you ever gotten so excited that you just started singing? Have you ever been so overcome with gratefulness that you broke out into a dance? We enter into such a point in the story of Israel's exodus from Egypt. The Israelites had just come through the Red Sea. They saw the bodies of dead Egyptian soldiers wash up on the shore behind them. God had worked wonders on their behalf. Could you imagine being part of such a miracle? How could one ever repay God for such a deliverance? What could a person even say in response? Often, the most fitting response is a song… a song of praise… a song of testimony recounting his marvelous deeds. So Israel sang and danced with Moses and Miriam. They told the story in song of how God rescued them from the hand of Pharaoh. They would not stay silent about this act of salvation. Do you have a testimony of how God has saved you, changed you or provided for you? He wants to hear your song. Why a song? Music is emotive. It brings out not just the facts of your testimony but also the deep emotions. Your song of testimony can be used to stir gratitude and great desire for God within you and those around you. A song sticks in the mind and has power to remind generations of God's miracles. Psalms 96:1-3 says, "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples." This is one of many places in Scripture where you are instructed to sing out your testimony. This instruction is not only for the musically skilled. It is for everyone who can make a "joyful noise." Psalm 98:4 It's time to sing your story of God's miracle in your life. APPLY Find a quiet place (or a place that you can be loud without disturbing others) and begin telling God how thankful you are for a specific miracle in your life. Next, use some simple phrases of "Thank you, Jesus" or "You have been so good" to start your melody. Even if your melody seems disjointed, keep persevering. God loves your voice and your response of gratitude. So don’t hold back! READ MORE Psalms 40, 96, 98 Isaiah 42:10-17 Ephesians 5:15-20
