You Are What You Think

Your mind is a precious thing. It is a gift that you can use to bring great momentum to your relationship with Jesus. This happens not by simply filling your mind with truth. Rather, it happens by choosing to obey the truth. This happens first in your mind. For you act out what you've been thinking about.

If you wonder why your sinful nature seems to have a hold on you, look at where your mind is set. The Bible is clear - the reason you wrestle with sin is that the wrestle is happening in your mind. You think before you act. Even if the thought is momentary, you act out of the choices that happen in the mind.

What preoccupies your mind? When you don't have to think about anything, what do you think about? Are thoughts of thanksgiving and joy the dominant feature, or are thoughts of anxiety and negativity your main focus? The concentration of our minds dictate how you will live. Your state of mind will actually impact your body.

Do you know what the Spirit desires? That is what we are meant to be thinking about. The Spirit desires that all creation will bring glory to Jesus. He desires that you will remember the words of Jesus, and he deeply wants you to know that you are never alone. John 16:13-15 When you think about what the Spirit desires, you will begin to look like and walk like Jesus.
