When pressure comes in your home and in your relationships, who do you start fighting? The easy target is people. The right target is the enemy. Keep Reading…
Read Ephesians 6:10-20 - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Questions
Meditate Do you find it easy to get into arguments with people? When contention or trouble arises within relationships, where do you point your attack? You might think the obvious battle lies right in front of you… with the person that is opposing you. Arguments and fights between people can happen quickly. We are reminded in this passage that the devil has schemes. There are spiritual forces of evil that are plotting your downfall. The enemy would love nothing more than for us to fight each other, when he is the one instigating the trouble. Do you recognize this? This should not scare us, but rather bring a soberness to our spirits. How then should we fight the enemy? First, we need to secure our identity in Jesus. The enemy comes to accuse our position as a child of God. Revelation 12:10 So we are called to secure our armor, or our position in Jesus. Next, we are instructed to stand firm. There is no need to be frantic or run away in fear (notice - there is no armor given for our backs!). When we resist the enemy, he has to flee. James 4:7 Do not be intimidated. Stand firm. We are also given the offensive weapon of the sword of the Spirit - the Word of God. The enemy responds to God's Word. Authority and power is released when God's Word is declared. So, use your Bible! Speak out God's promises. The truth of God's Word penetrates darkness and silences the enemy. Alertness in prayer is another weapon of warfare that we are given. It is in prayer that we recognize our dependence on God's power. This dependence provides the pathway for God's authority to be released… for the battle to be won in the spirit realm. When the right enemy is targeted… when the battle in the spirit realm is fought and won, then victory will be released in the physical realm. It's time to fight the right battle and gain your victory.
