9/7/2018 1 Comment Where is Your Mind?
Colossians 3:1-3 - Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Keep Reading...
Meditation Jesus died, rose and ascended into heaven. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. This is real, not figurative. And where are you seated, according to God? You are seated in Jesus at the right hand of the Father. This also is real, not figurative. It is this reality that you are told to set your mind on. "Set your mind on the things above." Colossians 3:2 "But I'm sitting in my chair right now (or the couch or bed). I am not floating somewhere in the heavens," you say. "What should I be thinking about… thoughts of clouds and heavenly bells?" It's important to remember that Jesus created all things seen and UNSEEN. Colossians 1:16 In other words, the unseen or spiritual realm is just as real as the physical realm. Typically, the spiritual realm is not perceived with the human eye. But, it is perceived by the mind and spirit. We are most prone to think about that which we can see with our physical eyes. But, we are commanded in the Bible to set our minds on the spiritual realm where God is seated on the throne. It is also in the spiritual realm that we are reigning with our Father, as we are seated in Jesus. Do you view your circumstances merely through human eyes? Or do you have your mind set on the fact that God is on his throne? Do you act according to the authority that has been given to you in Jesus? Those with their eyes set on the things of earth easily get discouraged and often quit. You get your battle plans, your intercession strategy and your courage from your Father in the heavenly realms. So set your mind there. Ask for his perspective. Cry out to see his authority released on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 5:10 Question In what area of life are you most likely to view through a physical lens, not a spiritual lens? Family situations, finances, co-worker conflict, entertainment options? Application In the area of life that you mainly focus on the physical realm, ask God to show you what is going on in the spiritual realm. Ask him how to "set your mind" on what he sees and is thinking about. Then follow his prompting.
