The Limitation of Labels

Wrestling with identity and definitions of self is quite common. Unfortunately, we often look in the wrong places. We pursue conformity with others to find ourselves. Even in our rebellion we find ourselves conforming to someone else's rebellion. Fear of rejection causes us to take on labels that were not meant for us. So, how do we define ourselves?

The Father says, "You don't need a title or label when you are mine." Belonging to the Father is not a superficial title or label. It is a stamp of acceptance on your spirit. This is what you need. This is what you were built for.

When you know that you belong to your Father, you can truly be free to give creative expression to all that he has put within you. The truth is - we use labels to stamp out creativity. We use labels because we're afraid... afraid of being different, afraid of being the completely unique one that God has made.

Labels limit you. Acceptance brings freedom to creatively express all that God has designed you for. Perhaps you work as a missionary, a baker, a saleswoman, a teacher or a engineer - but there has never been a missionary, baker, saleswoman, teacher or engineer like YOU.

Be satisfied with belonging to your Father. Stop striving for someone else's label. It will never suit you. You were created to be His (Colossians 1:16) and to allow His creativity to flow through you. (Ephesians 2:10)
