It takes humility to receive... to put yourself in the position of need. Would you do this? Keep Reading...
Worship Take a few moments to thank Jesus that he always speaks. Tell him that you love receiving wisdom and comfort from him. Use your own words to describe his faithfulness. He loves hearing from you! Read John 13:6-8 - When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.” “No,” Peter protested, “you will never ever wash my feet!” Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.” Before Jesus' was arrested in the garden, he spent time with his disciples having dinner together. Imagine the incredible weight on Jesus' spirit with the knowledge of his coming crucifixion, and yet he willingly gave his time and energy to his disciples. Jesus never communicated that he was too important for his friends… that he had more significant things to do than to hang out that evening. Look at the humility of Jesus! As if Jesus didn't have enough of a burden on his spirit, he went even further. He got up from the table, took off his outer cloak and put a towel around his waist. Jesus then proceeded to wash his disciples feet. He took on the position of a lowly servant. When it was time for Peter's feet to be washed, things didn't go too well. Peter refused to let Jesus wash his feet. It just didn't seem right that the master would be washing his disciples' feet. Peter thought he was taking the humble road by refusing to let Jesus wash him. But, actually, true humility always receives from Jesus. Humility says, "I need God. I need to experience his love. I must know him more." Learn to receive from him today. Listen What is God saying to you? Do you often show your need to God and others? Respond Let God know of your need for him in prayer. Intercede Think of someone you can pray for that is in real need - spiritually, financially, or physically. Take a few moments to pray for that person.
