The Call to Leave and Go

​Are you ready to leave? Ready to go?

Abram was a man of the world, the pagan world of what we know as modern-day Iraq. Up to this point, we do not know of any other revelations from God to Abram. And, suddenly, in the midst of Abram's daily routine, God called out to him.

You might think more preparation is needed to hear God's call. You would like the word of God to come during your quiet time. But, how about in the middle of lunch? God has a way of breaking through into your normal routines. He had a mission for Abram, and he has a mission for you.

When God calls us to step out of our comfort and the familiar, our loyalty is at stake. Will we remain loyal to his call no matter what, or will we stay loyal to our routines.

What was at stake in God’s call on Abram's life to go to a land he did not know? Oh, only the establishment of the Israelite nation, the coming of Jesus and all nations being blessed through him! Now, Abram couldn’t comprehend all of this. But, he did understand simple loyalty to God's voice.

God is still calling out to you…. He is still saying, "Leave… and Go." Why? The blessing of Jesus has still yet to reach ALL nations. It will take hearing and obeying God's voice - a determination to remain loyal to God's call above the pull of your "people and your father's household."

You can’t comprehend the blessing of God that will be unleashed through your simple obedience. Abram didn’t. But, he obeyed and went. So, will you hear God's call to LEAVE your home, your desk, your friend group and GO to those who haven’t been touched by Jesus yet?

God’s call came to Abram, and it has already come to you. Mark 16:15 - Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
