2 Chronicles 20:21 - After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, and his people were in real need of breakthrough. Two enemy armies, the Moabites and the Ammonites, came to make war against Judah. What would be your gut reaction? Jehoshaphat made a very wise move. He first went to prayer, seeking God's input. 2 Chronicles 20:3 After God encouraged Judah with words of hope, he gave them a most unusual battle plan. Jehoshaphat set the worshippers out in front of the army. They began to sing a song of praise… "Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever." How would this defeat the enemy? It was actually the vocal thanksgiving that released the power of the Lord to set ambushes against the enemy. After a while, the enemy turned on each other until everyone was destroyed. Judah rose up to take the plunder. God's promise came true. They would not have to fight the battle, but only stand still and watch God deliver them. 2 Chronicles 20:17 Your thanksgiving paves the way for the release of God's miracles. Often you might not think to thank God until after victory is in hand. But, how about thanking him beforehand? It is this faith-filled action of gratitude that is your greatest weapon. Thanksgiving draws or attracts the presence of God. And when God shows up, the enemy cannot stick around. Use the promises of God in your practice of thanksgiving. He has given them to us for this purpose. 2 Peter 1:3-4 As you set your face to thank God in the midst of your battle, you will notice greater levels of breakthrough. Sing, declare and shout your thanksgiving. It is so attractive to God. He will rush in to ambush the enemy. Victory will be yours!
