Do you often feel defeated in your Christian walk and prayer life? Real freedom seems beyond your grasp? Keep Reading…
READ Ephesians 2:6 - And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 6:12 - For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:18 - And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. REFLECT What is the basis of your spiritual authority? Your good looks, speaking ability or length of quiet time? No, your authority comes from somewhere else. The throne. Jesus is seated on the throne - meaning, he has all authority. And guess what? As you have relationship with Jesus, you are seated with him. You have authority in Jesus. You have no ability to walk in freedom or pray freedom into other people’s lives unless you are walking and praying from a position of authority. A spiritual life that is locked into the physical realm walks and prays with no real effect. Do you find yourself whining at God, approaching life’s situations from a place of defeat? This would be because you have denied the reality of your position of authority in Jesus. So, how can you walk and pray in this position of authority? First, remember that your struggle is not against people. If you have been focusing on and fighting with people, you are missing it. The real battle lies in the heavenly places. There are forces contending over your mind, your relationships and loved ones. Recognize the real enemy and focus your prayers there. The release of spiritual authority then comes in your Spirit-filled prayers. To pray in the Spirit requires that you first hear his direction on how to pray. Ask the Spirit to focus your prayers. Then wait and listen. Follow his promptings. Only the Spirit can activate the authority that you possess. Cut off the enemy’s work and pray a release of the Holy Spirit upon yourself, specific relationships or situations. RESPOND Choose not to spray bullets of prayer in a “machine gun-like” style. You are firing at everything and hitting nothing. Only the Holy Spirit will line up the target with your scope. Real victory, real freedom will come with this “sniper-like” approach. Wait on the Holy Spirit now for your target. Ask him how to pray. Now speak out with authority. Bind up the enemy. Loose the Holy Spirit. Freedom is at hand.
