27/7/2018 1 Comment Seat of Authority, Ephesians 2:4-7
You have been created and now saved for great purpose. God has given you a royal position of authority. Keep Reading…
Listen to Ephesians 2 below and let God's Word soak into you. Read Ephesians 2:4-7 NIV - But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Meditate In the resurrection of Jesus, you have also been given new life. You now have every opportunity to walk in righteousness. Previously, you ran in circles around sin, unable to break free. But, the power of the resurrected Jesus gives you hope for living a holy life. Many people think the goal of the Christian life is holy living… try to stay clean and make it to heaven. The truth is, however, that God not only raised us up with Jesus, but he seated us with him in the heavenly realms. What does this mean? We are now given a seat of authority in Jesus. Colossians 3:1-3 We are called to extend God's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Our role is not just staying away from sin, it is actually activating our authority in Jesus. We activate our authority by binding up the enemy and releasing the Holy Spirit into our homes, communities and nations of the earth. Matthew 16:19 God always works with his people. He shares his authority with us and expects us to use it. Jesus commands, "All authority has been given to me, so go and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 28:18-20 Question Is your Christian life characterized by walking with authority or running away from sin? Apply Can you think of an area in your home or community that the enemy seems to be controlling? Does his influence seem particularly strong in a certain area around you? Practice activating your authority by rebuking the enemy in Jesus' name. Resist his influence over your home or community. Now, ask the Holy Spirit to release his power over the situation in mind. He will respond to your voice.
