Are there times when you know you should speak up and declare that Jesus is alive... and that he is Lord? But then, you find yourself holding back. Your volume gets turned down. Often your mute button is pressed. It's time to turn the volume up. Read God's Word from Romans 10:9-10. Keep Reading...
Romans 10:9-10 - That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Many people believe in God, but not as many speak it out of their mouths. Even the demons believe that there is one God… and they shudder. James 2:19 Demons would never confess, however, that Jesus is Lord. So, it is not mere belief that brings salvation. In the same way, it is not a mere statement of faith that brings salvation. Matthew 7:21 says, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." In other words, the confession of "Jesus is Lord" needs to be backed up by a life of obedience to Jesus as Lord. Do you realize that your words have power? It is important to Jesus that you publicly declare his Lordship over your life. He does not want you to stay silent or have a "personal" faith only. When you speak to others about the Lordship of Jesus in your life, you are showing your loyalty to Jesus. This confession of your mouth is not an optional extra for the Christian (as if there were any "optional extras"). It is tied up with your salvation according to Romans 10:10. Remember that your spoken word only has power if you are living under the Lordship of Jesus. Your obedience to his Word matters! Combine belief in your heart regarding the death and resurrection of Jesus with your confession and life of Jesus as Lord. This will result in salvation for you. And it will call those around you to put their faith in Jesus. Romans 10:17 says, "Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." When you speak the Gospel, faith is sparked in those around you. Let the power of God flow through your mouth. Activate faith all around you as you share the Lordship of Jesus in your life.
