Are you passing the test that God is giving you? Are you even able to pass it? Keep Reading…
READ Exodus 20:20 NASB - Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin.” REFLECT Do you like taking tests? Perhaps a bit of fear enters in when a test approaches. Nervous hands and a blank mind accompany this moment of truth. Your memory is pushed to the limit. God tests us. But it’s not so much of a memory test. It is a test of our hearts and actions. He uses circumstances to reveal the true nature of our love for him. Deuteronomy 8:2 The results of these tests are made clear to him and us. Why does God test us? He is treating us as valuable, responsible children. He wants us to know that we can actually love him and show it. We can pass the test. Some teachers give tests that no one can pass. Not so with God. We have the ability to pass all of his tests. Why also does God test us? The more we choose God's way in any given test, the more we surround ourselves with the fear of the Lord. This protective shield of the fear of the Lord will lock in our love for God and cause us to hate anything that would displease him. The more our hearts turn toward loving God and hating evil, the more we will find great joy in the tests. God’s tests are not aimed at our heads, but at our hearts. He is cultivating a beautiful love for him within us. His tests mean that we are loved children, and we have the ability to love him back. RESPOND What circumstances in your life are you quick to complain about (certain relationships, financial situation, work life)? Can you see God’s testings? You can show your love to God by listening, then obeying his ways in these specific situations. You have everything you need to pass every test. Ask God for a greater fear of the Lord in specific areas of your life where you feel like you are failing. Now commit to seeing the test and choosing love for God each time. 2 Peter 1:3 - His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
