Does God want you to be mostly pure in your relationships and conversations? Is it possible to be completely pure? Keep Reading….
Listen to Ephesians 5 below and let God's Word soak into you. Read Ephesians 5:3-7 - But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person–such a man is an idolater–has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. Mediate How pure is pure enough? God says, “let there not be even a hint of sexual immorality or of any kind of impurity.” Ephesians 5:3 How many hints of impurity do you allow in your life? Hints can come in videos, music and short conversations. Sometimes we can excuse hints of immorality in our lives, thinking that they are inescapable in our modern times. But, God calls for complete purity. Even our conversations should be completely free from foolishness, obscenity and off-color jokes. These are out of place and improper for you, because you have been completely set apart to God. You are holy. Instead of impurity coming from our mouths, we are called to give thanks. The best mouthwash is thanksgiving. When your mouth is full of praise to God, the bad breath of impurity cannot linger around. At the end of this passage, we are instructed not to be partners with those who play around with impurity. Alliances with impure people will stain us. So, be careful who you partner yourself with. Apply Are there hints of impurity in your life that you have condoned? Allow the Holy Spirit to search your life for areas of impurity… in relationships, words, jokes, etc.? As you are convicted, confess and repent. Determine to turn away from every hint of impurity and begin filling your mouth with thanksgiving.
