God is always revealing himself to you. But do you see him? Keep Reading...
PRAY Dear Lord, please reveal yourself to me in this time. Open me up to your Word. Thank you. In Jesus' name, Amen. READ Exodus 6:6-7 - “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians." Exodus 7:5 - "And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.” REFLECT For many generations the Israelites had been slaves in Egypt. They lived with idolatry and oppression surrounding them. The stories of their ancestors - Abraham, Isaac and Jacob must have seemed like ancient history. And the stories of their God, El-Shaddai, must have seemed even more distant. The account of Moses, the ten plagues and the great exodus is a story of God revealing himself to everyone - to the Israelites and the Egyptians (as well as the surrounding nations). The Israelites needed to know who Yahweh was just as much as the Egyptians needed to know. And God showed himself in unmistakable power. There might be people you pray for who really need to know God. Your prayers are heard and being answered. But do you realize that God is also intent on revealing himself to you? He is constantly revealing his power and care to you. Do you see it? We can get so preoccupied with how other people need God more than us that we miss God's personal revelation to us. God has an amazing way at revealing himself to all parties at the same time. And in that revelation, he shows many different facets of himself - just what a person needs to know at that time. APPLY How has God revealed himself to you today? Take a moment to think and then thank God for his personal interaction with you. Ask him to open your eyes to quickly see and respond to his many revelations in your day. READ MORE Psalm 19 Romans 1:18-20
