God doesn't just speak once. He keeps reminding and reassuring us of his promises. He is a good Father. Keep Reading...
Genesis 46:2-3 - And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” “Here I am,” he replied. “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes. Jacob was in the line of promise. God had spoken to his grandfather, Abraham, about multitudes that would come from his line. Genesis 15:5 Then, father Isaac received the same promise. Genesis 26:4 Jacob had heard the stories of God's words to his ancestors. They were deeply entrenched in the family line. Yet, God spoke again to Jacob at Bethel - when he was running away from his brother, Esau. In Genesis 28:15, God says to Jacob, "I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." God came to calm and reassure Jacob - yes, Jacob, the deceiver and manipulator. God's promise is based on HIS word and character, both of which never fail. Often, our good intentions have a limited life span. We can make grand promises, but fail to deliver. God is not like that. He always keeps his promises. Toward the end of Jacob's life, he needed to uproot his whole family and move to Egypt. The famine in Canaan was threatening all of their lives - and threatening the line of promise. In the chaos of the move, God came to Jacob again to reassure him that his promise still stood firm. God understands there are times when we feel he has left or broken faith with us. We have read his promises in the Bible. But, we are not seeing the promises fulfilled. This is why the Father sent the Holy Spirit to us… to reassure us and remind us of everything Jesus has said. John 14:26-27 For God to speak out his promises once to us should be good enough. Yet, in his great fatherly love, he continually reminds us of his faithfulness. Are you able to hear the Holy Spirit's words of reassurance in your life? He is the One you should be listening to. Ask him to remind you of his promises to your family. Remind yourself of God's promises from his Word. Click below to read more.
