It’s one thing to walk away from darkness. It’s another thing to please the Lord. Keep Reading…
Read Ephesians 5:8-14 - For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Meditate Remember what you used to think about… how you used to act? Reminders of dark ways and dark times can bring a chill to our spines. Feelings of shame surround the secrecy of living in the dark. Praise God that he turned the lights on. When his light came into your life, darkness had to flee. God specifically exposed dark and rebellious ways in you, so that you could truly be free. Now that God has freed you from sin, he tells you to live that way. Live as a child of the light. How do you do this? Find out what pleases the Lord. This will take some investigation. Just like a lover finds out what pleases his loved one, so too, you can find out what God especially likes. To start with, you know that God is especially pleased with loving his body. Ephesians 4:1-6 The Father loves it when his children actually love each other. When you try your hardest at imitating your Father in his self-sacrificial love, you are deeply pleasing him. Apply Pause for a moment and think. How could you please God today? How could you go out of your way to show him your love? Not as a duty or chore… but as a gift of love. You have the ability to please him like no one else.
