Are you tired of trying to be godly, trying to witness, and trying to understand God's Word? You need a fresh encounter - not with a Bible study, but with a person. Keep Reading...
READ Acts 1:1-10 KEY VERSE Acts 1:5 - For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. THINK ABOUT IT If you think about it - Jesus was only with his disciples for three years before he went back to heaven. Wouldn't he be concerned that the disciples would scatter, lose heart and faith? No. Jesus was full of confidence in going back to his Father. Why? The Father was sending someone else to be with us forever. Who is this One? The Holy Spirit. Jesus told his disciples to WAIT for him. In time they would be baptized (surrounded, filled, immersed) in the Holy Spirit. Jesus entrusted his disciples to his Father and the Holy Spirit. He says, "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever– the Spirit of truth." (John 14:16) In our day, it is our encounter with the Holy Spirit (baptism, filling, complete surrender) that will make the difference between doing good things for God and doing God's things with your life. Many Christians find themselves striving to be good - to be kind, to witness more and to read more of the Bible. But Jesus was talking about a different experience when he promised the Holy Spirit would come. Jesus calls us to wait and watch for the Holy Spirit. When he comes on us, a new desire and power for God's ways comes out of us. A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our lives is what we need to hit the mark of God's calling on our lives. Godly character is formed. A new ability to see and respond to God's leading in our lives comes out of this connection with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16 - So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. PRAY Come, Holy Spirit. Pour Yourself out on me. I need more of You, not more of me and my good works. I surrender to You. Please overwhelm me with Your presence, Your voice and Your ways. I trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
