You crave what you practice eating. Have you been feeding your spirit lately? What do you crave more - the Holy Spirit or the world around you? Keep Reading...
READ 1 John 2:15-17 - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world–the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does–comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. REFLECT The first step toward true freedom in Christ is to acknowledge the spirit realm. There is so much more going on than just the physical realm where we eat, sleep, observe, crave and possess things. Since we have practiced walking in this world of our five senses, it comes naturally to us. But there is a realm we often miss. Colossians 1:16 says, "For by him [Jesus] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." Jesus is the creator of both the physical and spiritual realms. They are both very natural and normal to Jesus. They should be to us as well. If we turn a blind eye to the spirit realm, we will be locked into the cravings of sinful man, struggling with lust and pride. We then quickly default to physical solutions for spiritual problems. The reason we so often go back to our old cravings (physical solutions for comfort) is that our spirits have become unfed and dull. We tend to grow hungry after that which we consistently feed on. When we learn to feed our spirit, we become aware of another dimension to life. We begin to perceive spiritual roots and bondages that give rise to physical and relational problems. RESPOND Practice feeding your spirit through worship and intercession. Practice following the Spirit through hearing his voice (through Scripture and prayer) and obeying him. You will only be able to do God's will by fully engaging in both the physical and spiritual realms. Typically, engaging in the physical realm is not a problem for you. But, it will take practice to consistently feed and lead with your spirit.
