Faith Listens

Faith is inspired by hearing God's word. You can't have faith if you are not listening. Sometimes, you wonder why your faith seems weak or very up and down. It has to do with your ears. When you are listening to God through his Word and his still, small voice, faith begins to rise.

Holy Spirit, I am listening. Please speak your specific words into my life. I want to be changed by you. Thank you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Faith is inspired by hearing God's word. You can't have faith if you are not listening. Sometimes, you wonder why your faith seems weak or very up and down. It has to do with your ears. When you are listening to God through his Word and his still, small voice, faith begins to rise.

A quick reading of Scripture will not always spark faith within you. Lean in to listen. Ask God again what his specific word is for you in this day. Don't go away until you feel like he has spoken to you. When you hear what God says, be sure to obey. The Israelites heard God clearly and rebelled. Their faith (relationship with God) suffered greatly because of their rebellion, not their ears.

Listen, then obey. Faith will rise.

Meditate
Romans 10:9-10 - That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Apply
Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you about who or what you mostly listen to. If you feel that your input mostly comes from music, videos or friends, this is time for a change. Be honest with God about where you've been. Commit to listening to him first and foremost. Now, practice listening. You might need to set an alarm to remind you to listen. Make a point of stopping to listen to him before moving into your conversations, ministries or occupations.
