24/2/2018 1 Comment Complaint Destroys Identity
Complaint will end up destroying your life. It will keep you living like a slave, though you are free. Repel complaint with thanksgiving. Your very identity depends on it.
Pray
Dear Holy Spirit, I want to see you and hear you more clearly. Please free me from distractions now as I listen to your words. I want to hear and obey you. In Jesus' name, Amen. Read Exodus 16:8 Ask When we complain to people, who are we actually complaining against? How does God feel about complaining? Reflect God had set the children of Israel free from the tyranny of Egypt. He opened the Red Sea, rained down manna from heaven and brought water out of a rock. The Israelites were no longer slaves. They were free! But, were they…..? No. They were free physically. But, they remained as slaves. Their identity was not secure. How did that happen? Through complaint. The Israelites actually lost their inheritance and ended up wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, all because they were not content with God's provision. God has spoken that you are his child, loved, forgiven, set free, adopted, and chosen. But, it is not until you agree with his words and thank him for this gifted identity that your identity becomes solidified. Identity has to do with your choice… your choice to agree with and accept God's design of you. Complaint will end up destroying your life. It will keep you living like a slave, though you are free. Repel complaint with thanksgiving. Your very identity depends on it. Meditate Philippians 2:14-15 - Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. Apply Ask the Holy Spirit to convict you of any complaint that is in your heart. Complaint might seem like a small thing. But, it leads to the loss of your inheritance and ultimate destruction. So, as the Holy Spirit speaks to you, take time to repent of complaint. Cut it off of your life. Now, begin to practice thanksgiving. Don't stop. You will begin to experience living in the light of your identity in Jesus.
