11/7/2018 0 Comments An Invitation to Feast
You've been invited to a full and satisfying feast. You wouldn't trade this for the world. Or would you? Keep Reading...
Scripture Isaiah 55:1-2 - Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Meditation You receive a text from your best friend… "Can you come over tomorrow evening? I have a surprise for you." Your heart skips a beat. You love hanging at your friend's place. He has a beautiful house right on the beach. So, the next day, you race over to the house just at dusk. Your friend is there waiting for you at the door. He calls you inside and quickly leads you through the house out the back door. He excitedly walks you toward the beach. And the sight before you makes your jaw drop. There at the water's edge is a beautifully laid table full of your favorite foods. Your friend knows you so well! You are called to sit down and begin feasting. As your friend sits down, you stop beside the table and kneel down in the sand. Tilting your face toward the sand, you open your mouth and take a big gulp of sand mixed with sea water. Your friend stares in disbelief. Before standing, you take one more big gulp of sand. With a satisfied sigh, you breathe, "Thank you, friend, thank you for inviting me here today." How ridiculous a picture! A feast would be set before us, and we would choose to suck sand. God himself is the feast. He says, "Listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare." What voice appeals to us more than God's voice? Friends, Spotify, Videos? Not all voices are bad. It's just that all others compared to God are just sand. Choose the feast. Application Ask God to show you if you enjoy other people or things more than him. If he convicts you, repent of trying to live off of sand instead of his presence. Turn from temporary fixes of satisfaction to the One who really satisfies. Worship (click on Listen in Browser)
