You only know who you really are when you take God at his word. Agree with him about your status as a loved and cherished child of God. Security will begin to fill your life.
Pray
Dear Father, I believe that you are alive and that you want to speak to me. I am listening. In Jesus' name, Amen. Read 2 Corinthians 10:5 Ask When a wrong thought about your identity comes into your mind, what do you typically do? What does it mean to "take your thoughts captive"? Reflect It's one thing for God to tell you that he loves your unique design. It's another thing for you to accept it. It's not until you agree with God's definition and opinion of you that your identity becomes solidified. Imagine the scene where a man has set up a picture-perfect wedding proposal on the beach. At the right time, the man gets on his knee and pours out his heart of love for his beloved woman. Just after proposing, the woman backs away slowly and stares in disbelief. She just can't believe that he means what he says. She doesn't think she is worthy of such a display of love. The man is gutted at her unbelief. The woman was deeply loved, but she lived out the identity of an outcast. How we must hurt the heart of God when we draw back in unbelief. He has proven his love for us, most specifically in the sacrifice of his son, Jesus, for us (Romans 8:32). How could we second-guess his motives? When we don't believe that we are loved, adopted, forgiven, chosen, and precious, we make a decision for insecurity. The Father has given us every opportunity to live out our identity as a loved child of God. But, will we choose to agree with his perspective on our lives. You only know who you really are when you take God at his word. Agree with him about your status as a loved and cherished child of God. Security will begin to fill your life. Meditate Romans 8:31-32 - What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Apply It's time to agree with EVERYTHING that God says about you. He created your physical body, personality, emotions, intellect, family, nationality, age and more. Take some time and think about these details of your life. Would you begin thanking God for them? Would you thank him for your physical make-up, your personality, etc.? When you are thankful, that means you are agreeing with how God made you. This is essential for walking with a secure identity. So, have a thanksgiving time right now and agree with God's wonderful design of you.
