Give God your best.... your immediate obedience in this moment. Keep Reading...
Genesis 22:1-3 - Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey…. God has spoken. He has prompted you, given you the nudge. Do you pause… and wait (another confirmation and another confirmation), and then maybe move? After hearing God, it is possible to delay your obedience and move when it seems more convenient. Abraham heard God. A great test on his loyalty was at hand. If he was asked to give away all his sheep to a poor stranger, that would have been easy. He could always get more sheep. But to sacrifice his only son - the child of the promise? If any time to delay obedience, you think it would be now. Perhaps fasting and praying for 40 days to get clarity and confirmation would be appropriate? Theological debating is often the excuse for delayed obedience. The Bible says, "Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey…." Abraham knew how to build altars. He was used to it. His obedience step was not technically complicated, just very costly. Your obedience steps with God do not need a manual for explanation. They are simple and clear. Yet there is always a cost. This fresh act of worship (sacrifice) from Abraham was important to God… so important that the line of promise - the line of Jesus - was made vulnerable. God waited on one man's obedience, one man's faith, to see the promise of the Messiah move toward fulfillment. James 2:20-23 There is so much at stake in your immediate, obedient response of sacrificial worship today. God desires the fresh sacrifice. He might ask you to surrender time, money, relationships, clothes, entertainment, reputation or family approval. Get the "what" of sacrifice from God. Then, immediately obey. Trust God. It is always worth it.
