2 Peter 1:3-4 - "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." (NIV)
What will knowing God bring us?
Is there anything left out?
What does this tell us about God?
Is there anything left out?
What does this tell us about God?
Through his glory and goodness, he has given us his great and precious __________________.
Why?
Why?
We have been given a way to know God through his promises.
What does that tell you about God's character?
The Pursuit of God
THIS TEACHING IS ABOUT ACTIVATING THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD IN OUR LIVES. IT IS IN THE ACTIVATION OF WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW THAT WE ACTUALLY GROW CLOSER TO HIM… THAT WE COME TO KNOW HIM MORE. GREATER STUDY DOES NOT MEAN GREATER KNOWLEDGE. GREATER OBEDIENCE WILL RESULT IN GREATER KNOWLEDGE OF GOD. BE AWARE OF BECOMING EDUCATED BEYOND YOUR OBEDIENCE.
What were the two characteristics of those who were healed in the passages above?
"Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time."
1 Peter 5:5-6 NIV
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
Matthew 5:6 NIV
Matthew 5:6 NIV

from every tribe and language and people and nation.
You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”

The God of Risk and Courage
Jesus took a big risk with humans. Look at Isaiah 53 and Mark 14:50-52.
He still takes a big risk with us.
He still takes a big risk with us.
Where does the courage come from?
John 14:1-17
If Jesus can rely on the Holy Spirit, so can you.
This is where your courage comes from.
This is where your courage comes from.
The Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:22-26 - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other."
