God Most High
I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfils [his purpose] for me. Psalm 57:2 NIV
What’s the highest elevation you have ever climbed to? Gone on any mountain treks where the air gets thin? The higher we climb, the more confidence we gain. Looking down from the heights can be exhilarating.
What’s the highest position you have ever achieved? The greatest level of success, the top company title… to what elevation have you climbed?
As we compare ourselves among ourselves, we are like ants having a competition about who can build and climb the biggest anthill. When we look at God Most High, all comparisons quickly fade. For to him, the heights of the heavens fit inside his hands. Psalm 19:4 says, “In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun.” He truly is higher and bigger than the millions of galaxies that make up our universe.
Yet, God Most High stoops to intersect with our lives. He involves himself in our detailed moments, ensuring that our purpose is realized. There is truly no one like our God.
That God is higher than our universe and intimately cares about our lives has huge implications. It should pull out of us a deep trust, a child-like faith. For we have nothing to fear when we are loved by God Most High.
Do you worship God Most High, or is your God just a bit bigger than you? When the size of your God grows, your faith grows. Put away all notions of a manageable or containable God. Let your faith rise to meet God Most High. He is calling you to himself.
