God is Wise
Proverbs 2:6 - "For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding" (NIV).
Isaiah 40:13-14 - "Who has understood the mind of the Lord, or instructed him as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding" (NIV)?
Jeremiah 51:15 - “He made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding" (NIV).
Romans 11:33 - "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out" (NIV)!
James 1:5-8 - "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does" (NIV).
God not only knows everything, but He understands how and why everything works. As the Creator of the universe, God is the source of all wisdom. There is nothing that He cannot figure out. There is no question that He cannot answer. He understands the most far-reaching details of the universe, from galaxies far beyond our own to the DNA structure within our bodies.
It's quite amazing that God willingly shares His wisdom with us (Prov. 2:6). In order to receive His wisdom, we are instructed to ask God with a heart of faith (James 1:5-8). This promise of wisdom is not limited to any specific area. How much more advanced would we be in science, art, economics and government if we simply asked for God's wisdom in these areas? He is waiting with His generous gift of wisdom, if we would just ask.

Thoughts and Questions for Application
- Have you ever tried to be God's counselor? Explain.
- How much we ask God for wisdom reveals how much we believe we actually need it. Does your lack of asking for wisdom reveal pride in your life? Do you think your knowledge is sufficient?
