God is Light
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5 NIV
God is light. What you see is what you get. There is no darkness in him. No hidden agendas, no manipulative schemes. He is clear and straight-forward. God says what he means and means what he says. He can be trusted.
How often do we hear of a high profile figure that has a hidden life - an area of darkness that suddenly gets revealed to the world? Have you ever had a friend that suddenly turned on you with gossip and lies? Once clear relationships can quickly turn into shades of dark and light.
Even our superheroes can toy with the dark side (Spider-Man, Batman). But God is not like your friend, your world leader or your superhero. He is perfect light all the time. His character is see-through… meaning, it is full of integrity. God is not given to moodiness.
God not only is light, but he lights our path (Psalm 119:105). We are never left in darkness when we are at his side. When darkness seems very present in your life, run to the light. Cling to your God. He will give you the light you need to move forward. Stay out of the shadows. Clarity and protection comes next to the God of light.
