God is Faithful
Deut. 32:4 - "He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he" (NIV).
Isa. 25:1 - "O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvellous things, things planned long ago (NIV).
1 Cor. 10:13 - "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (NIV).
2 Tim. 2:13 - "…if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself" (NIV).
1 Thess. 5:24 - "The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it" (NIV).
Heb. 10:23 - "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful" (NIV).
God is consistent and dependable. He keeps showing up. God always tells the truth, always keeps His promises. These are descriptions of the faithfulness of God. He is Someone you can count on to mean what He says. He follows through on commitments He has made - even with the passing of many years. God doesn't forget. He always keeps His promises. Therefore, we can trust this dependable God. Even our lack of faith does not change His character (2 Tim. 2:13). At times it is hard to trust in the faithfulness of God. Our own faithlessness and our experience of broken promises worries us. We must remember that there is no one as faithful as our God.
God is full of faith in His people. In great love, He "always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. He never fails" (1 Cor. 13:7-8). We lose faith in people when trust is damaged. We hold back trying to protect ourselves from further hurt. God continues to take a risk with us. His faithfulness leaves Him vulnerable for future pain. But, He will not change course. He is committed to promise-keeping and believing the best in us. He is "faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
