The Father gave his best for you. Why would he stop now? Keep Reading...
Romans 8:32 NIV - "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"
We often think upon the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and well we should. We recognize the torture that Jesus went through in body, mind and spirit. But, do we ever stop to think about the sacrifice of the Father?
As a father, I would instantly choose to be tortured in place of my children. I would much rather have a murderer do anything they wanted to me… "Just don't touch my children!" This is a normal impulse of a father. I am not special.
Think of the broken heart, the torture and grief of the Father, as he watched his Son, Jesus, be brutalized by the Jews. Can you imagine the immense burden on his heart, as he watched the weight of sin being poured upon his undeserving Son? What indescribable pain!
And the Father did this for you. The life of his Son for you. The Father sacrificed for you. Now, why would you think that the Father would suddenly hold out on you? Why would he suddenly start demanding payment from you? Why would he not graciously give you every spiritual blessing that comes along with the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus (Ephesians 1:3)?
The answer is this: the Father already sacrificed his best for you, his Son. He will most certainly continue his self-sacrificing work of carrying you, transforming you and using you in his kingdom. His sacrifice on your behalf doesn't stop with Jesus. He keeps giving and giving. You can trust him today!
