Psalm 16:5-6 NIV "Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance."
Boundaries bring safety. Children who have been raised with good boundaries in place have a sense of security. They understand the value of boundaries and the danger of straying outside the lines.
Often, as we grow, we desire to explore life beyond the borders. We can sometimes feel that boundaries (guidelines, commands, laws) are constrictive. We think boundaries are there to take the fun out of life. So our launch into independence begins.
Life beyond our heavenly Father's borders brings chaos, depression and destruction. Adam and Eve found this out quickly. The Father actually desires that we will thrive and live abundant lives. This can only happen as we live within his boundaries.
The Father expresses his love to us in the setting up of good boundaries in our lives. He tells us to stay away from sin, as it will destroy us. And he also gives us unique boundaries around our individual lives. The family around us, our calling and location are all expressions of the Father's loving borders around our lives.
It is within the Father's boundaries that we find our inheritance. Choosing to delight in his ways and structure to our lives will ensure that we receive this inheritance. Don't fight the Father's boundaries. Learn to love them.
