Exodus 20:1-3 - And God spoke all these words: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.

REFLECT
God says, "I am not to be one of your gods. I come first. I must be your first loyalty. My voice and will must be of first priority in your life. I will not share my place in your life with another. Either you want all of me or none of me. Rid yourselves of divided loyalties.

God says, "Don’t be married to anyone else but Me. Don’t spread your love around. Don’t sleep around. I will not be a "one night stand" for you.

Unfaithfulness begins in the mind. Fantasies that I entertain reveal the cracks in my loyalty. Am I fully loyal to God in the way I think? Or do I allow thoughts of unbelief or control to linger in my mind?

Unfaithfulness shows in how I spend my time. Would I rather be alone doing my own thing, or would I rather do it with Him?

Unfaithfulness is revealed in what I say or don’t say. Am I proud of my God? Do I freely talk about him, or do I hide the fact that we are married?

Do I fan into flame my attraction toward God? Do I work at it? Or do I make him come my way... always needing him to prove his love to me? Allowing passivity to creep into a love relationship is deadly.

This commandment strikes at the heart of my love. It is one thing to be dutiful. But duty without love will create a vacuum that will be filled by other loves.

RESPOND
Ask God to show you if other loves have crept into your life. Turn from idolatry through repentance. Now commit to fan the flame of faithfulness in your love relationship with God.
