God is Lord
Matthew 7:21-13 - “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers’" (NIV)!
Romans 10:9 - "That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (NIV).
Colossians 1:15-18 - "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy" (NIV).
1 Timothy 1:17 - "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen" (NIV).
In a movie there is usually one main story line that involves one main actor. Awards are given for the best storyline and the best actor. The story of creation is all about Jesus. He is awarded with the best storyline, best director and best actor, all in one. It's all about Him. "All things were created by him and for him" (Col. 1:16). In fact, Jesus keeps the story of our creation going by Himself (Col. 1:17). As executive producer and director, His resources and power are infinite. No other story like this has ever been made.
And what is the ultimate ending for His amazing story? The ending is where Jesus comes in first place in everything. Usually there are winners and losers in every story. Well, in this one, Jesus wins in everything. In every relationship, every occupation, every artistic pursuit and every struggle, Jesus comes out on top. "… so that in everything he might have the supremacy" (Col. 1:18). The story is not finished yet. But, one day "every knee will bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father" (Phil. 2:10-11). One day, all will acknowledge that Jesus is Lord - that He comes in first place in everything.

Thoughts and Questions for Application
- Do you consider Jesus as taking the main role in your life? Does He have the title of producer, director and main actor in your life?
- We actually cannot "make Jesus Lord." He is Lord, whether we acknowledge that truth or not. However, we can believe and live out the truth that He is Lord.
- What does it mean that Jesus wants to take first place in every part of your life? Will you let Him do this, or will you compete with Him? What specific area is He calling you to surrender to His Lordship?
