Though you were created to worship, it is your choice of who to worship that will determine your life's direction. Worship is at the foundation of all you are and all you do. Read more...
Romans 1:25 - They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.
You were hard-wired to worship. Everyone worships, whether they acknowledge it or not. You were made to give your allegiance to someone… to serve someone… to honor someone. It is part of you.
Who you will worship is your choice. And this choice has huge implications for your life and those around you. To worship anyone or anything but the one true God is exchanging the truth for a lie. To worship creation is making a decision to walk in a false reality.
When the Israelites stopped believing that God was worthy of worship, they quickly made an idol. After their idol worship, they went straight into sexual immorality. Idolatry was the foundational sin that opened up the door for all manner of evil.
You notice the progression of sin in the first chapter of Romans. People stopped worshipping God. They chose his creation over him. Greater and greater hardness of heart followed. All sorts of sexual immorality filled their lives. Idolatry brings with it ever increasing darkness and confusion. If you find yourself trapped in a cycle of sin and confusion, check for idolatry. When your worship focus gets clarified, light comes in.
Throw off anything that hints of idolatry in your life. You were made to worship the one true King. He is waiting to receive all that you have to give him. Break cycles of sin through active, God-honoring worship.
