Thoughts continually rush into our minds. We have a choice of what to allow in or out. We allow ourselves to be controlled by the sinful nature or the Spirit. Keep Reading...
Romans 8:6 NLT - So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
How do you let the Spirit control your mind?
1) Recognize that all your thoughts do not necessarily come from the Spirit. There is pressure from both the sinful nature and the Spirit to think along one path versus another.
2) You have a choice to follow one path of thinking - the sinful nature or the Spirit.
3) The movement of the Spirit is already happening. His thoughts are already at the door waiting to be let in (or surrendered to). Likewise, the thoughts prompted by the sinful nature are already in motion and at your door waiting to be let in.
4) Purposefully allow the Spirit into your thought process. Pause and invite him to take over (control) your thought processes in the moment. This will take a conscious, deliberate act of surrender. Try this: STOP, SPEAK (to the Holy Spirit) and SURRENDER.
Stop | Speak | Surrender
Can you identify areas of your thought life where you often follow the pattern of the sinful nature? You don’t have to follow this wrong pattern anymore. Commit to surrendering to the Spirit's thoughts over that area of your life.
