Ephesians 4:15 NIV - "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ."
Perhaps you are one who freely speaks your mind… no problem telling the truth. But you see, truth really isn't truth unless it's done in love.
It is important to realize that our relationships with fellow Christians are leading somewhere. They are not an end in themselves. Your ability to speak the truth in love has implications to Jesus. If you are able to speak the truth in love, you will grow into Jesus and cause others to do the same.
Truth is not the truth without love. And you can't love someone without telling them the truth. In other words, truth and love necessarily go together.
If you struggle with being loving in your communication, then the truth you feel so strongly will be greatly diminished. And if you shy away from speaking the truth, you will be withholding love. Truth and love go together.
Will you be committed to building up Jesus' family through truth and love?
