Psalm 23:4 NLT - Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Keep Reading...
The dark valleys are intimidating. Danger lurks in the shadows. When we can't see the way forward, fear can set in. When our future seems out of control, dread can creep over us.
It is our Father who brings comfort to us in the midst of these dark times. We aren't removed from these troubled valleys, but we are given the presence of our Father, our good shepherd.
How does the Father communicate his comfort and protection to us in these difficult periods of life? He uses his shepherd's staff. It is his staff that gives us boundaries. His staff wards off the attack of the enemy.
In our times of fear we are prone to wander outside of the Father's boundaries. We become controlling and rebellious. We do not trust our Father's staff, his boundaries.
The discipline and guidance of the Shepherd is of great comfort. There is amazing peace within the boundaries He has set for us. Are you stressed or anxious? Ask yourself - "Am I living within the boundaries God has set for me? Am I being comforted by His limits and discipline, or am I resisting them?"
