But for now, I've got a lot of things on… family pressures, work deadlines, church meetings… Sound familiar? We tend to respond to the things we believe are most urgent.
What was most urgent to Jesus? The plight of the lost. In fact, that is why Jesus came - "to seek and save what was lost (Luke 19:10). Jesus felt deep compassion for the harassed and helpless crowds. And his compassion called him into urgent action.
Jesus called his disciples to pray for more harvesters… more people who would take action on behalf of the lost and hurting. It wasn't time to procrastinate. More people were needed to take action.
Indeed, the heart of Jesus still beats for the lost. Does yours? He tells us that people are waiting to be gathered into the kingdom. But, who will go tell them? Who will go get them?
We don't have a minute to waste. Reorganize today's priorities around what Jesus says is urgent - the salvation of the lost. It's time to take action.
