There is power in the gospel of Jesus. It's more powerful than your voice or prayers, more effective than a thousand sermons. Are you ashamed of this powerful gospel?
Romans 1:16 - I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.
What will be the convincing word that will bring your unsaved family member into the kingdom of God? The gospel. What will be the breakthrough moment in your work of discipleship? Revelation of the gospel. What is the foundation stone of any thriving ministry? The gospel.
The gospel has power in and of itself. Why? The gospel is the good news about Jesus. It is the word of Jesus that convinces people that they need a Savior. It is the proclamation of Jesus that brings conviction of sin. His voice, his words, his action brings the real change. The gospel of Jesus is powerful.
Do you ever feel awkward in mentioning the name of Jesus to unsaved friends? You might feel comfortable talking about purpose, love, troubles, and even many spiritual topics. But, when it comes to the name and person of Jesus, do you hold back?
You will notice that the name of Jesus divides. Remember, there is power in the gospel of Jesus. Upon hearing the name of Jesus and recognizing his claim on their lives, many people will quickly turn away. Others will be drawn close. Never shrink back from bringing Jesus into your conversation. There is power in his name.
If you decide to play it safe and steer away from the gospel and the name of Jesus, you are in danger of seeing the cross of Jesus emptied of its power. See 1 Corinthians 1:17 Do not opt for your human words of charm or persuasion. Bring Jesus into the conversation. Let him do the persuading.
Jesus saves. Don't be ashamed to tell the world. How can we hold back the truth? Everyone needs to hear the gospel of Jesus.
