In order to reach us, in order to save us, Jesus put skin on. The Father did not send a text or an email. He sent a person… someone to touch, someone to hear, someone to follow. Keep Reading...
John 1:14 NIV - The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
We need to do missions with skin on. Nothing beats the person to person interaction. This is how Jesus did it. He changed locations (and wow, what a change) and entered our atmosphere. The smell of cows and sheep hung thick in the air. He was wrapped in plain cloths and slept in a trough. That was his entry into this world.
What "discomfort" would you go through to put on the skin of your neighbour? What sacrifice could you make to let another ethnicity know that Jesus loves their culture. Would you wear their clothes? Jesus did.
Any sacrifice that we could make would never match Jesus "becoming nothing for us" (Philippians 2:7). He paved the way for missions in the flesh. He did it, and so can you.
In fact, missions in the flesh is the only way that the nations will come to Jesus and be transformed (Romans 10:14-15). Where will you go today?
Missionary. Teacher. Worship Leader. Deeply desiring to make God's Word accessible and understandable to all. May you be transformed as God's Word fills your life.
