The Father's missionary heart was revealed a long time ago.... back in the Garden of Eden. Keep Reading...
Genesis 3:15 NIV - "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
Missions began in a garden. When Adam and Eve rebelled against God by taking the forbidden fruit, all of creation was wrecked. Death entered the scene. God's perfect creation and relationship with humans was broken.
How did God the Father respond to the outright rebellion of mankind? How would you respond if someone intentionally broke your brand new iPhone? You would probably get angry. Some thoughts of revenge might float through your mind.
But how did the Father respond? He immediately set plans in motion to bring people back into intimate relationship with himself. Missions began right there in the garden.
When God told the serpent that someone would come to "crush his head," he was speaking of the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus, on the cross. In light of mankind's utter
rebellion, the Father's gut response was personal sacrifice.
Missions started in the garden and is still going today. At great personal cost, he continues to pursue the lost, the lonely and forgotten.
