It's a bad feeling when you've wasted lots of time. How do you make the most of every opportunity and maximize your moments? Keep Reading…
Listen to Ephesians 5 below and let God's Word soak into you.
Ephesians 5:15-20 - Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
How can you be sure that you are maximizing your time? See answers in RED above.
Earlier in Ephesians 5 we are instructed to be a part of exposing darkness and bringing God's light into the world around us. With this context, Jesus tells us to "make the most of every opportunity." This means to bring his light into every situation possible. How is this done?
First, we are to "be filled with the Spirit." The literal sense of this phrase is to "keep on being filled with the Spirit." This is not just a one-time event, but a continual flow of the Spirit within you. It's important to recognize the movement of the Holy Spirit on you and in you. Ask him for a greater infilling. Specifically surrender yourself to his movement in your life.
Then, we are instructed to worship the Lord through music and songs from our lips. The praise of God should be flowing from us to God and to each other. When we do this, light is pouring into our lives and those around us.
Lastly, our determination to give thanks to God for everything ensures that we will not miss any opportunity to bring the light of God into the world around us. When we are constantly thankful, we don't have room to roam around in the darkness.
Be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Give active worship with songs from your lips.
Give thanks to God for everything.
