Jesus pursues the lost one with persistence. He is constantly making room for just one more. He values going out to bring the lost ones in. Salvation is his priority.
In our evangelism do we care about the crowd more than the individual in front of us? Sometimes, unbelievers can become part of a faceless, nameless group to us. We preach to the crowd and miss the person.
Jesus pursued the woman at the well in John 4. He broke through social norms and stereotypes. Jesus "had to go through Samaria." He had to find this one woman - a woman full of sin and pain. She was important to Jesus.
Join Jesus in pursuing the lost one on the fringes. When you stoop down to show kindness to the homeless man or abandoned child, you will find Jesus there (Matthew 25:40). He takes time with the individual. That person was worth his sacrifice on the cross.
If Jesus values an individual that much, shouldn't we also care for people very personally with our Gospel proclamation and mercy ministry?
