James 4:6 - God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Keep Reading...
Do you ever find yourself feeling blocked or opposed? You are trying hard to succeed… really putting out great effort in your occupation or ministry. But, things are not going your way. Perhaps this stuck point can come in relationships, in tasks being completed, or in personal character development. It seems that with all your effort, not much ground is gained. You are feeling generally opposed. You try to come up with solutions to the barriers in your life. "Perhaps, if I change this habit…. Perhaps, if I become more disciplined, then I will overcome this obstacle," you think to yourself. It is easy to go around in circles trying to fix relationships or your character. But, have you ever thought of this? Perhaps God is opposing you. Now why would that happen? It happens when you are proud. This doesn't mean that God doesn't love you or has rejected you. No, in fact, his opposition means his care for you. Perhaps you really need breakthrough in a work situation. But when there is pride in your life, that is all God sees. His hand of conviction is on you, opposing your way forward until you deal with the pride. You can look at everyone else's issues, but until you see your own pride, you will be halted from any further progress. Your Father will not let you progress beyond the point of your obedience. Pride was Lucifer's downfall. It was pride that incited the rebellion in the Garden of Eden. And it is pride that will be your undoing… unless you choose humility. When you walk in true humility - being known for who you are - grace begins to flow in your life. When the mask of competence or the facade of insecurity is taken off, breakthrough comes. Grace is the oil in the gears, the lubricant in the engine. Your life runs smoothly with God's grace. You need his grace. How do you get it? Humble yourself. Ask your Father if there is any area of pride in your life. Could there be any over-sensitivity to leaders or friends? Any self-pity or complaint in your spirit? Judgement or comparison? These are all fruits of pride. If he convicts you, repent. Turn from the pride. Humble yourself before your Lord, and the grace will flow.
