How does God treat deeply rebellious people? What is his heart like? Keep Reading...
Hosea 2:14 NIV - Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.
Notice the heart of the Father on his mission to bring his people back from their disastrous rebellion. When the Israelites were committing adultery (physically and spiritually), God had a response. It was one of unconditional love.
In order to fulfill God's mandate of missions, we need to have his heart. He does not accuse (though he could). He does not withhold affection before a person turns to him. No, he operates differently. And he wants us to get his heart.
Although God was grieved over the outright rebellion of his people, he still treated them with tenderness. In fact, he allured them. He attracted them to himself, as a lover would attract his loved one. This is true. It is the love of Christ that "compels us" toward repentance and reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:14).
Do you have God's heart for missions? Are the unbelievers around you loved by you and attracted to God's presence by you? Or is there judgement and condemnation in your heart?
Cry out for the heart of God in missions. We must go with his heart. Otherwise, we will mislead unbelievers and lead them to a god of our own making.
