Why do we fear man? We fear man, because we hold people's opinions of higher value than God's opinion. When we are secure in God's opinion of us, we will not worry about the thoughts of those around us.
Fear of God and fear of man cannot co-exist. It is important to recognize that choosing the fear of man is a rebellious choice against God. The fear of man is not someone else's fault. We choose it every time. We choose it against the truth of the Father's love for us.
What combats the fear of man in our lives? The fear of the Lord. This means we need to hate the sin of fearing man's opinion. Ask God for a greater fear of the Lord - that you would love him and hate sin (the fear of man) more than ever before.
The fear of man leads to destruction. Fear God and be free.
