To guard yourself against apathy, take the following prescription. Repeat daily.
James 2:17 NIV - "In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
MESSAGE: What you DO matters!
Hebrews 10:36-38 NIV - "You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, 'He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.'"
MESSAGE: Do everything God asked you to do. Don't shrink back from responsibility.
2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV - "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
MESSAGE: Make every effort to work on your character.
Dear Father, I want to get active in obeying You. I recognize that I often make excuses. I procrastinate. I'm lazy. Please forgive me for my apathy. I will practice jumping at Your commands without delay. Thank you for completing your work of bringing salvation to this world. I will complete what you have told me to start. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Set a time today for some prayer / exercise. Get out on the bike path, foot path or local gym. As you get active with your body, use that time to engage in prayer. Intercede for family members, for discouraging situations, or whatever the Holy Spirit brings to your mind. Use your physical exercise to activate your spiritual exercise.
